An online search shows that there are at least 14 recognized types of Reiki. I study and practice Usui Reiki. In 1922 Usui Reiki was rediscovered in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui. Dr. Usui was on a spiritual quest and had embarked on a 21 day meditation and on the morning of the last day he had visions of ancient Sanskrit symbols of healing (IARP). After this event he opened a clinic and began teaching and healing with Reiki.

Our bodies are made of cells and filled with electrical synapsis and plexi that assist with its function. We have immune systems that help protect us with white blood cells that act as tiny soldiers that are called to battle at the hint of foreign invasion. I have found that many standard medical systems believe that these responses are automatic. That they can be supported with treatments such as pharmaceuticals but ultimately nature will take its due course.

My personal belief is that our state of mind and ultimately our energy can either hinder or assist us in healing. When I was feeling low or anxious my body was in dis-ease, when I raised my energy and my gratitude my body became whole and balanced. Allowing my body to return to a state of ease was key.

We are more powerful than we will ever know. Amazing things can happen when we relax and allow intelligent energies to course through us. This is Reiki. My wish is to use Reiki to help others feel empowered and at ease.
